Self-karaoke is a body of video, installation, and performance works by Weird Allan Kaprow.

Self-karaoke repurposes pop melodies to explore the political dimensions of self-care in our crumbling late capitalist democracy.

Self-karaoke celebrates, antagonizes, and otherwise unpacks the paradoxical dimensions of self-care including self preservation and resistance, self-indulgence and escapism, problematic wellness culture, neoliberal DIY health care, middle-class consumer fantasies and fears, leisure imperialism, and much more!

Self-karaoke was featured in the Time Based Arts Festival at the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art in Portland, Oregon in September 2018 as well as exhibited in Political Birthdays at the Dream Farm Commons in Oakland, California.
